Smoke Special Effects

When it comes to creating smoke, FilmSFX have learnt pretty much every trick in the book..

From smoke coming from an Ashtray or a full battle-field scene, we can produce any type of smoke effect beit large or small.  All our smoke effects are safe non-toxic and safe for the environment, so no matter how large or small the effect, we ensure cast, crew and environment are safe.

Our smoke effects can nearly all be remotely fired, so when the shot is required and Action called,  we simply start the effect on queue... every time.

From miniature smoke machines to huge layflat machines, special oils,  smoke strips, remotely fired smoke grenades from small to very large output, we can combine multiple effects together to create a much larger effect or by sequence firing from small to large effects (often with flames or explosions) we can increase the expectation and feeling of impending danger.

FilmSFX have a range of non-toxic, environmentally safe remote controlled pyrotechnic smoke devices, providing bursts of authentic black or white smoke.  These are custom assembled by FilmSFX to use our wireless firing systems, allowing smoke to be remotely fired alongside other pyro effects. 

Our largest devices, provide a massive coverage of  60 & 90 seconds of dense black or white smoke, providing either a localised smoke effect or using several, we can create realistic battle scenes over a wide area, perfectly timed with the action and easily resetable for retakes/scenes

From small 30 second devices to our massive 90 second devices, our auto-smoke is the perfect solution for perfectly timed smoke action.

Auto-Smoke Coverage & Duration

The diagram provides a guide to the general coverage and duration of our different sized Auto-Smoke Pyro Smoke devices.

These devices are custom assembled by FilmSFX and wirelessly,  remotely fired using our advanced professional firing systems.  This means that we can trigger smoke alongside other effects, such as pyro, flames, explosions etc..

The Perfectly timed firing of our black or white smoke adds a dramatic element to any fire or explosion scene.

Lay-Flat Fog Solutions

FilmSFX have a wealth of experience when it comes to providing large area, external smoke/Fog solutions.  We have  the very latest high-powered fog machines, including Artem Medium based Propane systems and our latest SmokeFactory IP65 Rated Electric Machine, to which we were the first company in the UK to take delivery of this highly advanced, extremely high output  machine.

Our All Electric IP65 rated Layflat system can be completely DMX controlled, allowing us to remotely control the system, providing instant alterations to the amount of fog, because the operator can be with the DoP seeing exactly what levels are getting in front of the lens.

For the largest of requirements, we can provide 2 or even 3 systems, providing not only large are coverage, but having maximum flexibility to ensure fog is arriving in front of the lens, regardless of change in wind direction.

Smoke Machines

FilmSFX have huge experience in providing the right machine for the job, from miniature wireless machines to very large output machines, with the correct liquid, positioning and control. Our Professional fog machines can be used to create a wide  variety of different effects, depending upon machine size, power, location and choice of liquids (and good lighting)
