The creation of "Atmos" is one of the most frequently used Special Effects.  Whether it be the creation of weather effects, such as Wind, Rain, Snow, Fog or camera/lighting effects with Haze in Studios and Location sets & dressing effects in studios and locations with ash, water, condensation, steam, dust, cobwebs etc., almost every production will benefit from some level of Atmos Special Effects. 

As a company, we have spent many years designing, manufacturing and acquiring the very best equipment and solutions for Atmos. Our teams are extremely well rehearsed in the planning and creation of the optimal effects for your productions specific requirements.

We have just about every type of professional fog & Haze machines, from very high output external and internal use system, with our incredible "tunnel of death" lay-flat fog systems, which can cover an area of 200m or more with a single machine.  We then have Specialist miniature wireless machines that let us get into areas of sets, props and locations, not previously imaginable and all remotely or DMX controlled.  When FilmSFX provide your Atmos, all our Fog machines are supplied as a main and redundant set.

Our teams can also assist with larger set coverage of dressings, such as ash, dust, cobwebs with the very latest application techniques.

In addition to  machines, we are a licensed stockist and operators of SnowBusiness SnowSticks (Snow Candles) which produce a stunning dry falling snow or ash effects.

Lay Flat Fog Tunnel - Fog, Mist & Smoke

We have designed medium and high ouptut  versions of our Lay-flat fog solutions to match the equipment to your budget and requirements.  From a light morning mist to a real pea-souper or smoke effects.

Our High-output system has fully controllable fog output and comes with a gas powered, very-high output Artem external fog machine/industrial fan, which we can run up to 200m of lay-flat fog tubing or provide even greater coverage with 2 or more systems.

Perfect for creating fog, mist or smoke effects over large areas. Our highly experienced operators can recreate massive areas of fog or mist or long runs of smoke plumes for battle-field smoke recreation.

Our Medium Output machines can do much the same job, but over smaller areas with a lower consumables cost.

We always come with Artem Handhelds, so that we can spot apply fog or smoke effects for beautiful atmospherics.

Our Systems are all fully integrated to trolleys, so are easy to move around even over uneven ground. Our High-output system comes integrated to an battery powered all-terrain trolley.

If you want the biggest winter storm wind and rain effects or a light summer breeze, FilmSFX have some of the most exciting wind machines and Rain solutions available.

From electric studio wind machines to the "Storm" Tow and Blow external machine, we have you covered.

The Storm, Tow and Blow machine will create up to 60mph winds over large areas, giving you the oportunity to effect actors in wide shots from distances as large as a football pitch.

This machine is the ultimate 2m dia wind machine operating from a diesel engine, so completely self contained once towed to location.

Smoke Machines

FilmSFX have huge experience in providing the right machine for the job, from miniature wireless machines to very large output machines, combined with the correct liquid, positioning and control. Our Professional fog machines can be used to create a wide  variety of different effects, depending upon machine size, power, location and choice of liquids (and good lighting)


The following video shows different persistance smoke liquids and how the effect can be changed dramatically from a Co2 style short persistance blast to a heavy long lasting smoke effect, simply by the correct choice of our high quality liquids. The video is based upon our German made medium output "SmokeFactory"  2.6KW 15 meter throw, Professional smoke machines.

We own and operate the renouned SnowBusiness SB200 snow machine, which has a worldwide reputation to be the best dry foam falling snow machine available.  This can create anything from a light sleet to a full blown heavy snow fall, which we can then help create with our light settled snow services.

FilmSFX are one of a few licenced operators for the SnowBusiness Snow Candles, which provide an unrivalled falling snow (or falling ash) effect and are used extensively around the world in major motion picture productions.

DMX Wireless Fog/Haze Control - SFX Atmos

To operate a number of remotely located machines, needs the best controllers for the job. Our wireless DMX 512 solutions are trusted by lighting directors across the world for lighting control.

With these devices, our operator can take control of the fog from the camera PoV.  Many other effects companies, rely on their operators sitting behind the machine, but then they cannot see what the effect looks like on camera, as all they see is a wall of fog in front of them.  With our wireless control, we can stand next to the DoP or camera operator and see exactly what level of fog/haze is working and accurately use the same setting when returning to that location at a later time.
